Getting Familiar with the Headset
Unboxing and First Use of Meta Quest 2 Headset
What is a VR Headset?
A Virtual Reality (VR) headset is a device that immerses you in a 3D virtual environment, allowing you to interact with digital worlds as if you were really there. VR headsets are used for gaming, education, training, and more, providing a unique and engaging experience that goes beyond traditional screen-based interactions. In the course you will use Meta Quest 2 headsets.

Unboxing Your VR Headset
When you open your VR headset box, you’ll find several key components:
- VR Headset: The main device that you’ll wear on your head.
- Controllers: Handheld devices that allow you to interact with the virtual environment.
- Charging Cables: Used to keep your headset and controllers powered up.
- Instruction Manual: A guide to help you get started.

Setting Up Your VR Headset
-
Fitting the Headset:
- Adjust the Straps: Before putting on the headset, adjust the straps to ensure a snug but comfortable fit. The headset should sit securely on your head without being too tight.
- Position the Lenses: Place the headset over your eyes and adjust the lenses for a clear view. Most headsets have a dial or slider to fine-tune the lens distance.
- Comfort Check: Ensure the headset feels balanced and comfortable. If needed, adjust the straps again for optimal comfort.
Learn how to do it in this short video:
Controllers
Thumbsticks are most commonly used for free movement in space or for scaling objects.
The Menu button takes us to the main menu.
The Oculus button is used to bring up the menu when you want to take a break from the application or exit it.
Battery covers
Grip buttons are used for grabbing, holding, and releasing a 3D object.
Triggers are used for selecting and confirming in the menu or for selecting a 3D object, etc. Essentially, they are similar to pressing Enter or clicking with a computer mouse.
Turning the headset on for the first time
When you turn on the headset, you will be prompted to set the boundaries.
You should then see a beach environment with a library of applications. First with only one app "Frist Steps" (apps will be added gradually).

The last step to configure the headset is to connect to wifi.

The headset should now be successfully ready. Congratulations on embarking on a new journey.
